  • Overview

    The intern will provide support to the World Renew Refugee Program in Canada by implementing the sponsorship monitoring program. World Renew is a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) organization and as such has an agreement with Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to resettle refugees to Canada. Support for World Renew monitoring program will assist in ensuring compliance with government policy and regulations of the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program.

    The intern will distribute monitoring questionnaires, conduct interviews and follow up with sponsors and newcomers. As well, the intern will assist in strengthening the monitoring program of World Renew through assessment of tools of monitoring approaches of other Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) organizations. As time permits, the intern will support the World Renew Canada Refugee team in other areas such as with sponsorship applications and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    This internship will begin in Spring 2020.

    The hours for this internship will be: 22.5 hours per week over the course of 12 weeks

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

    1. Learn and absorb:
       a. Learn basic history and terminology of World Renew in general and more specifically of the Refugee Program (what we do, who staff are, who we work with, what roles staff play, what World Renew’s vision and mission are, etc.).
       b. Meet with key World Renew staff across team functions to gain a balanced perspective of what it takes to operate this ministry
       c. Attend the Refugee Program and other World Renew Team meetings as requested

    Refugee Team Support
    2. The intern will support the refugee program manager and team members in
       a. Distribution of questionnaires to sponsors and newcomers
       b. Follow up with sponsors and newcomers to ensure questionnaires are completed and submitted in a timely manner
       c. Interview sponsors and newcomers
       d. Compile results gathered from questionnaires in monitoring reports
       e. Research monitoring approaches by other Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) organizations to strengthen the tools and systems of World Renew’s monitoring program
       f. Other duties as requested by supervisor

    Education and/or Experience

    Applicants must be a 4th year university or masters student with post-secondary institution and experience in the following areas; international development, refugee studies, forced migration, human rights.
