Overview

This position is based in Burlington, Ontario and will work on the development of proposals for submission to Global Affairs Canada and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB). Working closely with our Ministry Team colleagues and international partners the incumbent will ensure that proposals are well formulated (i.e. technically sound, cost effective, efficient and in keeping with best practice) and in-line with institutional donor requirements. They will also develop templates and orientation material to help guide the proposal development processes. The incumbent will build and maintain strong communication and build relationship with relevant donor staff. In addition, the incumbent will provide surge support in time of sudden onset emergency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

  1. Coordinate World Renew’s humanitarian submissions to Global Affairs Canada, particularly the annual humanitarian appeal (CAP)
    a) Work with colleagues to review GAC (MHD) guidelines and stated priorities to develop a criteria for internally evaluating concept notes
    b) Coordinate the review and prioritization of possible concept note/proposal submissions
    c) Collaborate with identified partner staff to develop fundable concept notes and full-proposals for submission to GAC
    d) Liaise with relevant GAC staff to strengthen World Renew’s understanding of GAC priorities and evaluation criteria
  2. Supports World Renew staff and international partners in CFGB Food Security programming by providing guidance, input and review of proposals and ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
    a) Provide support to World Renew staff developing and approving country specific concept notes and project proposals, annual work plans and budgets, and M&E plans
    b) Liaise with CFGB Project Officers (Winnipeg) to ensure alignment of World Renew projects with CFGB policy and funding parameters.
    c) Coordinate a process that ensures that timely and accurate reports are submitted to CFGB, providing feedback to staff and partners on needed revisions and editing reports as necessary to ensure that the quality standards for CFGB are met.
    d) Manage a portfolio of approved projects upon assignment by the Director and/or Deputy Director.
    e) Analyze narrative and financial reports from the field, comparing results to plans and following up on variances.
    f) Review and approve fund transfers and plan and follow-up with country-level finance managers on partner level finance capacity assessments.
    g) Represent World Renew on relevant CFGB working groups or taskforces.
  3. Attend and participate in meetings of the IDR team, and contribute to a team culture of mutual support, accountability and learning.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Membership in a Christian church and agreement with the doctrine of the CRC signified by signing a covenant statement. Commitment to and ability to articulate a Christian worldview, particularly as it relates to World Renew’s vision, mission, values and programs
  2. Exceptional writing abilities with demonstrated record on writing successful proposals
  3. Commitment to a programming approach emphasizing participation and empowerment
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP) and the related guidance on humanitarian action
  5. Excellent organizational and time management skills; demonstrated skill in prioritizing and balancing multiple competing tasks, projects, and deadlines
  6. Strong team player with proven and demonstrable collaboration and communication skills
  7. Demonstrated competence in planning programs and evaluating program quality
  8. Demonstrated ability to relate to a wide diversity of stakeholder groups with diverse value systems and cultures
  9. Highly proficient in word processing, spreadsheet software and relevant project management software
  10. Demonstrated commitment to contribute to and promote a work environment that values diversity, inclusion and equity
  11. Committed to working towards gender equality, equity and justice in all aspects of our programming, plans, policies and organizational structure
  12. Experience with PowerBI a definite asset
  13. Facilitation skills desired

Education and/or Experience

A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least three years of work experience in international development is required.
Experience with Global Affairs Canada Humanitarian funding is strongly preferred.

Language Skills

Written and oral fluency in English is required. Fluency in French is an asset.
